Whats The Best Sentence To Start A CV With?

Often a difficult decision for those writing their own CVs or resumes. Before becoming a professional content writer, I thought I was writing some excellent profile statements, and struggled to get much attention from my CV.

In becoming an international profession career content writer, I now understand what the best opening statement strategy should be for everyone, in every sector, in every country.

The opening line need to cover 3 particular caree aspects, and these are commonly in recruitment named qualifiying factors, and we in professional writing, prefer to call that a Hiring or Recruitment Statement.

Why is that, and what does it mean.

Think of this – When peple actually meet for the 1st time in real life, the 1st thing that goes through anyones head, is

  1. Who are you?
  2. What do you want?
  3. Whats in it for me?

So you should start you CV with a similar statement, including these 3 attributes:

  1. What you are, in terms of job titles
  2. What you do / or offer a company if they were to hire you
  3. Who you have been / or would like to be doing this for in your next role

Some good examples would be:

Finance Director / Head of finance, expert at controlling daily management and financial activities, departments and functions to ensure that all reporting, analysis and insight unlocks higher levels of performance and strategy delivery for international retails FMCG branded good companies.

Project & Programme Manager, with > 25 years expertise implementing Lean, Agile and Waterfall transformation and change programmes to scale operations, grow profitability or improve cost base for Tier-1 & Tier-2 automotive internationals.

Sales Manager, with ~15 years expertise in accessing new markets and sectors across EMEA and APAC regions to deliver significant profitable growth for UK base IT and software copmanies.
